By now, most people know that the iPhone 4 has been going through somewhat of a PR nightmare with the iPhone “Death Grip”.  Last week Apple announced that they would be giving away free bumpers or cases to people who have already bought iPhone 4′s.  This was a welcome piece of news for most people.  Well, today is the day that the free bumper/cases went on sale.  Here is what you have to do.

1.  Download the iPhone Case Program iphone app.

2.  Once you download the app and open it up you will be asked to put in your password for iTunes.

3.  From here you will be asked to choose a bumper or case.  Here are your choices.

I was a little disappointed to not see a better selection of cases, especially bumpers.  I was hoping they would offer more of the colors than just the black.  Also, wasn’t too pleased to see that it was going to take 3-5 weeks to ship the case. But, I guess you can’t complain too much since they are free.

4.  From here you will be asked to put in your shipping address and then you should be good to go from here.

Now for some particulars.  This program only applies to people who bought or buy their iPhones till Sept. 23rd.  If you bought your iPhone before July 23rd, you have until August 22nd to take advantage of your free case or bumper.  So if you want to wait out the initial craziness then you have some time.  If you ordered a bumper through Apple, you should have gotten a refund email stating that your bumper has been refunded.  Side note here, I was one of these people, but I was still able to go online and order a case so we will see what happens.  If you ordered your bumper through AT&T and you still want your refund you have to fill out a rebate coupon and send it in.  This is a bummer for AT&T folks, but nothing you can do about it.
