You Gotta See This! Review, really, you need to see this……

So over the past couple of weeks Boinx software has been teasing all of us on Twitter about an up and coming app they had for the iPhone. They have been known to make some quality apps for the Mac as a few of their apps have won Apple Design Awards in the past. Well, on Friday, they debuted their 2nd iPhone app called You Gotta See This. I have to admit, that is kind of a long and weird name for an iPhone app, but to each his own, I guess. Ok, on to the app itself.
The app is a pretty cool take on panoramic photography. To be honest, I am not one to use the panoramic feature on my camera that much. I can see how it is useful in certain situations, but not something that I use all the time when I am taking pictures. Well, let me tell you, this app really made me want to take more panoramic pictures after I got done using it.
Basically when you open the app you are presented with what looks like your standard camera option. But when you press the “Camera” button on the bottom, the app starts taking pics.
Now the cool thing about this app is that you can move the camera in all kinds of different directions and the camera will continue to take stills until you press the Camera button again.
When you are done with the picture, the app displays all of your stills in panoramic style. The cool thing about this app is that you are not limited to doing side to side panoramic photos, you can go up and down, around in a circle, however you choose. As you can see from the pic above, I went left to right, tilting the camera and then going around in a circle. The possibilities for some cool pics are endless. You are given 6 different backgrounds to choose from. Here are snapshots from each, just to give you an idea of what each background is like. Each background does something a little different with the pics.
Once you are done picking your background you have the option to share it to Twitter, Facebook, Email or to your Camera Roll. The other nice feature of this app is that you can switch to the front facing camera, switch on or off on the flash, and have the focus and exposure either locked or to an auto mode.

My one minor problem with the app is that there are times when the app wouldn’t work properly, with small bugs here and there. I found that if I exited out of the application and not just have it in the background, and reopen the app, I was able to get the app to work properly. Boinx says they are working on an update and it has been submitted to Apple, so I am guessing it will fix a lot of these small bugs.
Overall, I believe this is a great app to have. Right now it is on sale for $1.99. You can get it here on the App Store. Unfortunately, you can only get the app if you have an iPhone 4, it will not work on previous versions of the iPhone. If you like to take a lot of pictures with your iPhone, then this is a great app to have along with it. I think you will find that you can get some cool pictures with this app.
Those of you that have this app, what do you think? Do you like it? Is this too gimmicky for some of you? Let me know what you think in the comments. Thanks for reading.
